You will need to get to Torre del Mar at 8.30 in the morning to wait in the queue until the doors open at 9am. You will be given a number when you enter, you will then wait for your number to be called, give the receptionist all the paperwork, and then she will issue you with a form to go and pay at the bank opposite. You need to put your name, address and passport number at the top of this form before paying. The current amount to pay for an NIE number is 16 euros per person. Once paid at the bank, you go back to the police station, you do not need to wait again in the queue, give the lady the form, and she will return the NIE form with a stamp and date on. It takes one week for them to prepare the NIE numbers, so you will need to go back a week later and collect. If you are not in the area a week later, as long as you leave a friend, or family the stamped paper, they can collect for you. Or you can collect it when you come back.
